East Wake Warrior Burger

Happy Beef Month Everyone! Throughout the month of May we will be sharing some of our favorite beef recipes with you. Today’s recipe comes from DeMarco Bizzell.

• 8 3-ounce ground beef patties
• 3 medium North Carolina sweet potatoes
• ½ cup butter
• ½ cup maple syrup
• 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
• Pinch of salt
• 8 slices white cheddar cheese
• Lettuce
• 8 potato rolls
• 1 cup light brown sugar
• 1/8 cup ground cinnamon
• 1 tablespoon ground all spice
• ½ cup Dijon mustard
• ½ cup hot mustard
• ¼ cup ketchup
• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire
• ½ cup lime juice
• 1 tablespoon cayenne
In a medium pot, combine sauce ingredients and bring to a boil, then simmer. In another pot, boil sweet potatoes until tender. Let potatoes cool slightly and cut them into ¼ – ½- inch thick slices. Sprinkle potatoes with cinnamon.
Grill hamburger patties on an open grill. Sprinkle with cayenne, then place cheese on patties and continue to cook until cheese is melted and burgers are done. Spread 1 tablespoon of sauce on the bun. Place patty on bun, then add lettuce and sliced sweet potato.
